EU nods through 5.9% budget hike

Wednesday, 20th October 2010

"In the self same moments that George Osborne was raining down cuts and austerity in the UK, the bloated benches of the European Parliament were awarding themselves a 5.9% increase in spending," said Nigel Farage today.

UKIP's Leading Spokesman said: "I pointed out that people will rebel against this level of cloth-eared idiocy, but when I suggested that people, British people, might leave if they kept on increasing the EU budget – 'No taxtation without representation', I pointed out had been an effective rallying call in the past – they applauded, wishing that Britain should leave the EU. And so we should", he said.

"It is immoral that these claret-basted autocrats demand more money from British taxpayers to fund 85% increases in their own entertainment budgets", said Farage.

"And what do we hear from Cameron? That he will try to stop the increase. Not good enough Prime Minister. Nobody who voted for you voted for massive cuts in our defence budget, and huge hikes in our payments to Europe. You know it, they know it.

"The only question that remains is, when will your two-faced approach to budget discipline bring you down?"
